Top Ten All Time Favorite Books (From the Past 5 Years)

Tuesday, March 3, 2015

Top Ten Tuesday is a blog meme hosted by The Broke and the Bookish.

Tough question! The original topic says past three years, but I couldn't do it. I tried! I really did, but it just felt so wrong not including a few of these. Even then it was hard to narrow it down. Thank goodness five was an option too! Oh and I threw in a comic too.

Top Ten All Time Favorite Books (From the Past 5 Years)

1. Red Rising by Pierce Brown
2. Ready Player One by Ernest Cline
3. Half Bad by Sally Green

4. Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell
5. The Thousand-Dollar Tan Line (Veronica Mars) by Rob Thomas and Jennifer Graham
6. The Raven Boys by Maggie Stiefvater

7. A Hero at the End of the World by Erin Claiborne
8. Shadow and Bone by Leigh Bardugo
9. Red Queen by Victoria Aveyard
10. Hawkeye by Matt Faction and David Aja

Can you narrow down your favorite books of the last 3 years? Or do you have to expand it to 5 years like me?

  1. I've heard a lot about Red Rising! It looks really interesting. :)

I wasn't a big fan of Shadow and Bone, but I really should persevere with the series. I might like it more.

    1. You should totally read Red Rising! It's probably one of my favorite books of all time, not just out of recent releases.

  2. Ready Player One is one of my all time favorite books and I adored Fangirl! I really need to check some of these out though, especially Red Rising. It's one that I have been so excited to read yet I haven't read it yet! Thanks for sharing, I'm a new follower! :D

    1. Thanks for following! Ready Player One really is awesome. I have listened to the audiobook too, which is soooo great. If you haven't, you should give that a listen!

  3. I feel like I should get around to reading The Thousand Dollar Tan Line soon! I got a copy for review and it's just been sitting on my shelf for ages. I think because I haven't really watched the TV show (only seen the first episode), I don't have quite the same motivation that a show fan has!

I've never even heard of A Hero at the End of the World before, but I'm definitely intrigued!

    1. Yeah that's a bit of a dilemma. Though the book is a fantastic mystery all on its own, it really is aimed at people who were obsessed with the show (*cough* me *cough*). The book picks up almost directly after the vmars movie ends and so all that background is kind of required in order to not be completely lost. I would say hold off until you can watch the show and movie first before reading the book, but if you watch them, I'm sure you would be grabbing for that book in a second!

I would definitely rec A Hero at the End of the World! It's funny, diverse, and almost a Harry Potter satire that critiques the whole chosen one trope. Plus the cover is gorgeous.
